Things To Do In New Hampshire

Frequently Asked Questions About Our Trips & Rates1. What is included in the price of our fishing charter?Your private charter rate covers everything you need for a productive day on the water: the vessel, captain, crew, fuel, all required fishing licenses, high-quality rods and reels, terminal tackle, and fresh bait. We also handle fish filleting and bagging at the end of your trip so your catch is ready for the cooler. 2. Are there any hidden fees or extra costs? No, our trip prices are straightforward with zero hidden charges. The base charter rate covers your entire group up to the trip's passenger limit. The only optional additions are customary gratuities for the hard-working crew (typically 15%–20%) and any food or drinks you choose to bring along. 3. What is your deposit and cancellation policy?A deposit is required at the time of booking to reserve your scheduled date on the calendar. If you need to cancel, please notify us within our stated advance notice period for a full refund or to reschedule. Cancellations made outside the allowable window or no-shows will forfeit their deposit. 4. What happens if there is bad weather on the day of my trip?Safety is always our highest priority. If Captain Matthew determines that ocean conditions, high seas, or heavy storms make it unsafe to head out, we will work with you to reschedule your charter for a later date or issue a full refund of your deposit. 5. How many people can come on a private charter?Guest limits depend on the specific trip you book. Our deep-sea bottom fishing and offshore trips accommodate up to 10 anglers for optimal rail space and comfort, while our inshore striped bass charters comfortably host up to 8 guests. This guarantees everyone has plenty of room to fish without crowded lines. 6. Can we keep the fish we catch?Yes! You are welcome to keep any legal catch that complies with current New Hampshire state and federal marine fishery regulations regarding size and bag limits. Our crew will happily clean, fillet, and bag your fish on the ride back to Rye Harbor so it is ready for your kitchen or freezer. 7. Do I need to buy a New Hampshire fishing license before the trip?No separate individual fishing license is required for guests. Tontine Fishing Charters carries full commercial charter licenses that cover every angler on board our boat for the entire duration of the trip. 8. What should we bring on board for our day on the water? We recommend bringing food and drinks (in a small cooler or soft bag), layer-friendly clothing, rain gear or a jacket, rubber-soled deck shoes or sneakers, sunglasses, sunscreen, and a camera. You should also bring a larger cooler to leave in your vehicle for transporting your fresh fillets home. 9. Are your trips suitable for beginners and families?Absolutely. We welcome anglers of all skill levels, from total first-timers and families with children to seasoned sport fishermen. Captain Matthew and the crew provide hands-on instruction, step-by-step guidance, and all the gear needed to ensure everyone feels confident and catches fish. 10. Where do the charters depart from and when should we arrive? All Tontine Fishing Charters depart directly from Rye Harbor in Rye, New Hampshire. We ask all groups to arrive at the docks roughly 15 to 20 minutes prior to your scheduled departure time so we can load gear, go over a brief safety orientation, and leave right on schedule.
