Another great day on the fishing grounds! We pulled the uno reverse and went haddock fishing first this morning. Although we couldn't get them chewing we did better than yesterday with some quality fish. We saved ourselves some time to pound on some redfish at the end of the day. It started off slow due to some strong tide but when it backed off the large ones came out to play. Solid day. Solid people. Redfishing was a little slower yesterday with the combination of wind and tide swinging us off the rock all day we made quite a few moves but still managed 60-75 fish a person. This new moon has certainly brought some strong tides with it as well. Few more hours of redfishing today and back to haddock on wednesday. Sundays redfishing wasn't lights out but we certainly took mostly large. That being said we still did very well, including a ton of cusk. Back on the haddock tomorrow morning. Made a quick stop to try an fool a tuna the other day. Unfortunately they fooled us, they ate the mackerel on our sabiki rig instead of the one on the big rod! We moved on to search for haddock instead of going whiting fishing. We didnt find much for keeper haddock and ended the day throwing a pile of cusk in the box to take home some meat. Yesterday everyone was fine with the decision to pound on some whiting after we made several stops for haddock that didnt go in the box. Got back on the porbeagle program after losing a couple this week. First time we seen one with a broken back! Good eater 60" and the first keeper for these guys! She had survived a longline encounter as the hook was stuck in her pec fin, unfortunately for her, this was her last encounter. Ok, I'll admit it. Fell right off the wagon posting updates for you guys. We've got a lot of catching up to do, but today, we'll focus on today's trip. The groundfishing as a whole has been pretty sour and very very cusky, but we are landing some quality fish. Cod were scarce today but we found a few haddock and some jumbo pollock to go with them, along with plenty of cusk. But here is the redemption shark of the month! Aside from an abundance of blue sharks released this month, we lost a thresher, that we had already harpooned... Big bad fish We hooked this beauty today on a falling jig on a bottom rod! After a short battle, we got some iron in him, and it was history after that! Great crew and great food, plenty of laughs... now we have to try an beat that tomorrow, we've got the same group again! Jeez, I dont post the next day and all the sudden I'm well behind again... The western mass boys followed up the previous day with another shark of a different color and had roughly the same amount of fish with more cod. They sent me some pictures after they were done processing and all I can say is... wow. Great job guys Yesterday we had a tuna trip. While the tuna were there and the conditions were perfect we didnt hook up until the last minute reeling lines in. It wasn't a tuna, but my god, what a battle. We fought more on the harpoon line than the rod and had several jumps out of this beauty that measured on a straight tape 98" with a tail of about the same size! It seems we've switched from porbeagles to threshers that have obviously taken up residence. Boy would I have like to know the weight on this one. I'm guessing somewhere around 500, she was round! Little rough out today but we made it happen no problem! The fishing was consistent with what we've been seeing, lots of cusk, short cod, few haddock but some nice keepers, large pollock and a few keeper cod. Oh, and don't forget about the large sharks that chewed us up... Due to a scheduling conflict tomorrow we will be tied up, but back at it this weekend. #tontine #johndeere #haddock #pollock #codfish

Fishing was better today, few less cusk, some large pollock, a couple nice codfish and a sprinkle of keeper haddock. The group got the thrill of pulling on a feisty blue shark as well! Weather was a little snappy but nothing too bad. Weather doesn't look the best mid week but it should shape up for next weekend.
